[first] IPCC invites experts to review the first draft of the report on climate impacts, adaptation, and vulnerabilities
Barrier-breaking signals
40 of 415 eventsEvery real-world crossing the tracker has logged across nine scaffolds. Each entry names the moment, cites the source, and shows which forks it tilts. Pressure moments are the ones where the floor moved faster than any forecast window said it would.
Direction per event — which pole each crossing pulls toward — is scheduled for the next enrichment cycle. For now, chips show which forks the event touches without claiming a side.
Arctic sea ice minimum on Sept 12, 2026 was 4.60 million km2 — tied with 2008, 2010, and 2025 for tenth-lowest. The last 20 years are now the 20 lowest extents on record.
Antarctic sea ice reached a provisional 2026 maximum of 17.59 million km2 on Sept 14, 2026 — tying for third-lowest on satellite record. Four-year low-extent regime now established.
GEUS reported the Greenland ice sheet lost ~173 billion tonnes during the 2025-26 hydrological year, up from ~130 Gt the previous year, extending an uninterrupted 30-year run of annual net mass loss.
By early August 2026, EU wildfires had burned over 529,000 hectares, Spain accounting for 38%. The Avila fire reached ~50,000 ha and was described as the largest in Spain's history. 17 civilian + 8 responder deaths and 330,000 evacuations.
Study showed under rapid CO2 rise the AMOC can lose stability near 2 C of warming — far earlier than previous slow-forcing estimates. Potential tipping point reachable around 2060 under current emission trajectories.
AIMS 2025/26 annual summary found hard-coral cover across all three GBR regions stabilized or slightly rose versus 2025 — early recovery signal despite seventh mass bleaching event on record globally continuing to affect >80% of reefs.
Typhoon Bavi (Inday) reached Category-5-equivalent intensity in July 2026, killing 23 in Philippines landslides and displacing populations across Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, China, and Taiwan.
May 2026 CO2 at Mauna Loa averaged 432.0 ppm (Scripps) / 432.3 ppm (NOAA), up 1.8 ppm year-over-year. Annual peak reached a new ice-core-era high.
Full-depth global ocean heat content rose 24 +/- 6 ZJ from 2024 to 2025, extending the longest consecutive run of annual OHC records ever observed. 16% of global ocean area at record warmth.
Nature Communications paper (PIK Potsdam) found AMOC collapse would release 47-83 ppm extra atmospheric CO2 and add ~0.2 C global warming by turning the Southern Ocean into a net carbon source — a previously underestimated feedback.
January 2026 global surface temperature was 1.12 C above the 20th-century baseline. All ten warmest Januarys since 2007 — baseline shift signal.
EU's Clean Industrial Deal Omnibus package raised CBAM de minimis to 50 tonnes, exempting ~90% of importers; pushed first certificate sales to Feb 2027. Significant softening of Europe's flagship carbon-border policy.
One-year notification period from Trump's Jan 20, 2025 executive order elapsed, formally removing the United States from Paris Agreement obligations for the second time. Major shift in multilateral climate-governance baseline.
Copernicus ERA5 reanalysis placed 2025 at 1.47 C above pre-industrial, 0.01 C below 2023 and 0.13 C below 2024. The 2023-2025 three-year average crossed 1.5 C for the first time in any three-year window.
Example-shape entry for climate_environment allowlist. Real entries capture tipping-point crossings (AMOC, Arctic sea-ice minima, Amazon dieback), Copernicus/NOAA record-month announcements, IPCC special-report step-changes, and extreme-event attribution studies linking a specific disaster to anthropogenic forcing.
COP30 agreed a $1.3T/yr mobilization target by 2035 and a tripling of adaptation finance by 2035, but failed to reach formal consensus on a fossil-fuel transition roadmap. First COP hosted in the Amazon.
Super Typhoon Fung-wong (Uwan) made landfall Aurora province Nov 9, 2025 with sustained winds near 185 mph; caused 34 deaths and $104M+ damage. Second Category-5-equivalent to hit Luzon in two months.
On Sept 17, 2025 Antarctic sea ice reached its annual max of 17.81 million km2 — third-lowest in the 47-year satellite record, above only 2023 and 2024. Three consecutive years of record-low Antarctic max extents.

How to read this feed
Scaffold tag names the domain the event sits inside. Fork chips name which open fork(s) this crossing tilts — the specific timeline questions this moment contributes evidence to. Confirmed events are published and sourced; reported claims are announced but not yet independently verified; leading indicators are directional signals, not canonical crossings. A pressure moment flag means the pace exceeded what any forecast window had scheduled.
